You can choose to start the countdown 1 hour, 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes, or 30 seconds before midnight giving maximum flexibility and a fail-safe should the unexpected happen (such as a power cut) and you need to restart the DVD. There are no words on the video which means it can be used internationally, and on occasions other than New Year (eg you could use it for a Christmas Eve party). You can also use the fireworks loop on its own without Big Ben. The DVD-ROM also contains a shortened 10 minute countdown video and fireworks loop as MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 files on the DVD-ROM, including High Definition (720p) MPEG-4 files.
